On April 9, 2017 the Barrie Legion Br. 147 will Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Battle at Vimy Ridge.

Events planned for this afternoon include:

  • Exhibits and Displays of WWI military items and photos (beginning at12:30pm);
  • A Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony at 1pm at the Legion Cenotaph (beginning at 1pm);
  • Speakers Sessions with our Key Note Speaker, Professor Andrew Iarocci from the University of Western Ontario (beginning at 2pm)

Additional speakers include:

  • MWO (Ret’d) Darcy Murray of the Grey & Simcoe Foresters Regiment;
  • Lori Oschefski, founder and CEO of the British Home Children Advocacy & Research Association (BHCARA) and,
  • Maj-General (Ret’d) Glynne Hines from the RCL Dominion Command OSI Section

There is no charge to attend this event but everyone is encouraged to wear a Vimy Foundation, “Vimy Pin” available for sale at the Barrie Legion through March and April.
