Contest for Thursday, February 2, 2017: Last week we learned that approximately 29% of Canadians are descendants of those who served in the First World War. This week we are asking you to share your own personal connection to the war. Post a photo of a family member or their war mementos and tell us how they served during the First World War.
To ensure all the stories of Canada’s First World War soldiers are never forgotten, the Vimy Foundation works to share their legacy with young people. This week’s prize includes some books that are excellent for young readers: From Vimy to Victory from Hugh Brewster, and Grandpa’s Gift by Yasmin Thorpe.
Comment on our Facebook post, Instagram post, or tweet at us by 11:59pm PT on Thursday, Feb 2 with a photo of a family member or their war mementos and tell us how they served during the First World War. Only one submission permitted per account per platform (i.e. if you have an account on both Facebook and Twitter you can enter twice; you cannot submit two entries through Facebook). One winner will be chosen at random from all eligible entries received during the time period on all platforms. The winner will be contacted on Friday February 3, 2017! These contests are not sponsored by Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
